Tray or Ice is Difficult to RemoveUpdated a year ago

The silicone tray should not require excessive force and should be easy to remove from the machine's freeze chamber. Sometimes, moisture between the tray and the freeze chamber can freeze and trap the tray. Allowing (5-15 minutes) for thawing will always make removal easier.

Possible causes and things to try:

  • Humidity results in condensation that freezes in between the tray and machine.
      • Move the machine to a less humid environment.
  • Water spilled into the freeze chamber before the tray was fully seated.
      • Using a towel, dry the outside of the tray and inside of the freeze chamber before each use.
  • If the tray is filled above the “Fill Line."
      • An overfilled tray leads to water spillage between the tray and the freeze chamber
  • Leaky tray (See “Leaky Tray”)

Allowing more time for the tray to thaw from the freeze chamber will make removing it easier.

If ice is difficult to remove from the silicone tray:

The cubes may be difficult to remove immediately after removing the tray from the machine.

Some things to try:

  • Allow 5-10 minutes for cubes to thaw from the tray/inserts.
  • Turn the tray upside down and run room-temperature water over the bottom of the tray for 30 seconds.
